The Presbyterian Church of Ghana is very grateful for your dedication amidst this heavy stormโ€ฆ Rev. Dr. Nii Noi Odonkor

The Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, has paid a working visit to the Presbyterian Hospital in Bawku and has registered the appreciation of General Assembly Council (GAC) to the staffโ€™s dedication and hard work amidst challenging circumstances in the area.

Bawku Conflict

Graphic reported that, the conflict in Bawku has been recurring for  decades, resulting in all forms injuries, death of many people and the destruction of property running into millions of Ghana cedis.

Bawku, a  business hub with vibrancy has now been deserted, with many institutions closed down, while a number of people have fled the town for safety. In the midst of this, the Presbyterian Hospital in Bawku though have had a great effect from the conflict, most of the staff have remained resolute.

Despite the ongoing chieftaincy conflicts in the area, which have led to some community members leaving, most of the hospital staff have remained resolute in their service. Rev. Dr. Odonkor expressed gratitude on behalf of the Presbyterian Church for their sacrificial work and prayed for Godโ€™s intervention to resolve the situation and ensure their protection.

The Clerk of the General Assembly also highlighted the PCGโ€™s commitment to expanding its health institutions, acknowledging the crucial role the hospital plays in serving the community.

During the visit, the staff shared their concerns and challenges with Rev. Dr. Odonkor, who was accompanied by Rev. James K. Awuni, Chairperson of the Upper Presbytery and Health Area Board, Rev. Anthony A. Asarah, Clerk of the Upper Presbytery, and Mr. Daniel Adjei, Upper Presbytery Director of Administration and Human Resource Management.

The hospitalโ€™s Acting General Manager and management team took the delegation on a tour of the various departments, allowing Rev. Dr. Odonkor to interact with staff and assess the hospitalโ€™s current state.

This visit demonstrates the Presbyterian Churchโ€™s continued support for its health facilities and staff, even in the face of adversity.
