Let’s Accept the Reality that We need a Revival….Rev. Prof. Frimpong-Manso

The General Superintendent, Rev. Prof. Frimpong-Manso has affirmed that “the church must accept the reality that we need a revival”. The General Superintendent made this call as part of his routine visit to Churches this year at Nsawam Central Assemblies of God to climax the annual 14 days fasting and prayers on Sunday 7 February 2021. He was accompanied by the First Lady of Assemblies of God Ghana, Rev. Mrs. Gladys Frimpong-Manso.

The General Superintendent expressed his satisfaction with the adherence of the Covid 19 protocols by the church and also encourage the church to continue to observe all protocols. He also encouraged the congregation that in no time covid 19 will be over so we can go back to our normal times but currently, we should all adjust to the new normal, wear your mask and wash your hands.

Rev. Prof. Paul Yaw Frimpong-Manso adopted the corporate theme of Assemblies of God Ghana as his sermon theme “Revive us Again, Lord” for the occasion. With scripture reference from Ezekiel 37:1-3 and 11-15, he emphasized that the world, our spiritual life, work, etc needs revival and advised the congregants to identify that need which must be revived in their lives. He indicated that the “majority of Christians have forgotten our first love and need a revival to bring back the love for the things of God”. God is the one who brings revival and no human being can bring revival; thus, revival is the sovereign act of God”, he opined. Prof. Frimpong-Manso also emphasized that revival is not about drumming, dancing, shouting, though it forms part of church activities the evidence of true revival is that people turn to God and reject their old ways.

The General Superintendent asserted that the church must pray and cry to God for revival to happen and advised the church not to cease praying after the 14 days of fasting and prayers but must continue throughout the year to experience revival. He encouraged the congregation to study the “word of God” which is the Bible since the Word can help us triumph over Satan as Jesus demonstrated during His temptation. He further stressed that “revival comes through the work of the Holy Spirit and Holiness, therefore, you need to sanctify ourselves for the revival to happen”.  Concluding his sermon, Rev. Prof. Frimpong-Manso added that “revival brings unity, where there is a true revival, there is unity and focus. There is unity among pastors, deacons, members, district pastors, etc. Revival also brings peace”.

The Guest Pastor for the program, Ps. Daniel Kpogo also led the congregation in a time of prayer and worship for seeing the church throughout the period. The head Pastor of the Church, Rev. David Owusu-Ansah also express his appreciation to the General Superintendent and his wife for the visit and a refreshing sermon. The General Superintendent also urged the congregation and the leadership of the church to give a befitting retirement to Rev. Owusu-Ansah in May 2021 and also assured them of his presence at the ceremony.
