Workshop on Church Protocols to Enlighten Protocol Officers and Administrative Managers.

A three-day workshop was organized for Protocol Officers and Administrative Managers of the Presbyteries in a collaborative effort between the Clerk’s Office and the Public Relations Unit under the Department of Administration and Human Resource Management. The workshop held at the Abokobi Women’s Centre was the second of its kind and saw participation from 17 out of the 19 Presbyteries in Ghana.

The workshop focused on critical aspects of church protocol, aiming to enhance the efficiency and decorum of church operations. Key topics addressed included “Knowing and Handling of Church Protocols,” “The Ethos and Principles of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana,” “Handling Church Protocols Relating to Traditional Leaders,” and “Church Protocol and Etiquette.” These sessions were designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to maintain order and reflect the church’s values in their respective roles.

The reflective moments during the workshop centered on the themes “Church Protocol: Our God of Order” and “Church Protocol: Reflecting the Image of the Church.” These reflections provided participants with a deeper understanding of the theological and practical implications of church protocol, emphasizing the importance of orderliness and the church’s image in the community.

The workshop under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana featured other distinguished resource persons, such as Ambassador Kwabena Baah-Duodu, (A Ghanaian diplomat who served as Ghana’s Permanent Representative to United Nations Offices in Geneva and as Ghana’s Ambassador to Switzerland and Austria), Rev. Ezekiel Larbi, (Former Public Relations Officer of PCG), Mr. Festus Ohene Kwafo, (National Director, Administration and Human Resource Management) and Rev. Ebenezer Ahenkan Owusu (Public Relations Officer, PCG). Their insights and expertise greatly enriched the sessions, offering participants a well-rounded perspective on the various facets of church protocol.

The successful execution of the workshop underscores the commitment of the Clerk’s Office and the Public Relations Unit to the continuous development of church administration. By fostering a better understanding of protocols and their significance, the workshop has laid a solid foundation for enhancing the operations and image of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
